Breaking Bread: Workshop
March 2025For the first component of my thesis project, I hosted a zine workshop and potluck gathering on March 17, 2025 at 808
Commonwealth Ave. Participants were invited to bring a recipe
that told a story about them and then engaged in a guide zine-making workshop and conversation.
Organized similar to the steps in a recipe, the workshop was divided into four phases: mise en place, marination, fermentation, and digestion. These phases encouraged participants to enter a “discomfort-zone” where they engaged with unfamiliar flavors and perspectives. Designed with the intent of growing empathy and exchanging cultural or personal histories, this workshop explored food as a tool for social impact and personal growth.
